Keith Rabenberg Named MASA Friend of Education Honoree for Greater St. Louis

Brentwood School District Board of Education member Keith Rabenberg has been selected as the Missouri Association of School Administrators (MASA) Friend of Education honoree for the Greater St. Louis Region, recognizing his decades of dedicated service and leadership in support of public education.

The MASA Friend of Education Award recognizes non-educators who make significant contributions to public education at the local or state level through leadership, advocacy and service to students and schools.

Rabenberg is exceptionally deserving of this recognition for his more than three decades of unwavering commitment to the Brentwood School District and the broader educational community. First elected to the Brentwood Board of Education in 1996, he has served for 30 years and has remained actively involved long after his own children graduated from the district.

Throughout his tenure, Rabenberg has provided steady leadership, deep institutional knowledge and a thoughtful presence that have helped guide the district through periods of growth, change and challenge. He has served as Board President numerous times, offering continuity across multiple superintendencies and ensuring strong, student-centered governance.

Under his leadership, the district successfully passed multiple bond and tax propositions that resulted in millions of dollars invested in Brentwood schools. These measures improved facilities, strengthened learning environments and supported the long-term success of students and staff. Each effort required strong community trust, clear communication and collaborative leadership — qualities Rabenberg consistently demonstrated.

Beyond governance, he has generously volunteered his time to support students directly, including serving as a judge for district debate competitions and participating in school events that celebrate student achievement. His personal investment in students reflects his belief in the importance of public education and extracurricular opportunities.

Rabenberg is widely respected for his calm demeanor, thoughtful decision-making and mentorship of new board members. Over the years, he has guided and supported countless colleagues, modeling effective governance, collaboration and a student-centered approach. His leadership style has fostered trust, stability and mutual respect, strengthening both the board and the district.

In addition to his service in Brentwood, Rabenberg has made significant contributions at the state level through the Missouri School Boards’ Association (MSBA). He is a Distinguished Certified Board Member and has served as President of MSBA Region 7, representing districts across the region and advocating for strong public schools. His ongoing participation in MSBA conferences, regional meetings and delegate assemblies reflects his commitment to continuous learning and statewide educational leadership.

Through his role as a long-serving board member and community leader, Rabenberg has supported students and schools by:

  • Providing decades of steady governance and leadership for the Brentwood School District
  • Championing successful bond and tax initiatives that strengthened facilities and learning environments
  • Mentoring board members and advocating for effective school governance
  • Supporting students through direct volunteer service and community engagement
  • Contributing to statewide educational leadership through MSBA service

Keith Rabenberg’s decades-long commitment, steady leadership and selfless service make him a true Friend of Education. His impact on the Brentwood School District — and on public education more broadly — will be felt for generations.

Rabenberg will be recognized with other regional honorees during the MASA/MOSPRA Spring Conference on March 18.
